Folio
The Brazilian Guitar of Dilermando Reis
This folio includes music for fourteen of Dilermando′s finest compositions, all appearing for the first time in print. Thirteen are transcriptions from his recordings and one, “Salario Minimo” was never recorded and is based on a manuscript. The transcriptions are carefully layed out and include many details that bring the reader closer to the engaging interpretation that was Dilermando′s trademark. Four pages of notes on the transcriptions help put the pieces in context and explain unusual aspects of performance and style.
Also included is a seven page illustrated biographical essay. From his roots in Guaratinguetá, São Paulo, to his career in Rio de Janeiro and his role as one of the pioneers of Brasilia, Dilermando′s life offers a vivid portrait of the changes Brazil underwent in the twentieth century.
The folio is 9″ X 12″, 56 pages plus cover. It is a professionally offset printed, numbered limited first edition of 970. All compositions used with permission of the estate of Dilermando Reis. The music is presented only in standard notation. Contact me about a tablature supplement.
